An American Dream Come True…
The journey of Lumber Lovin’ began when my beautiful wife commissioned me to build a gate to prevent our puppy from chasing our cat (and vice versa). They both had zero chill to say the least. I had a bunch of extra lumber from gutting and refinishing my step-daughter’s bedroom, so I decided to put my woodworking skills to the test… And I am beyond glad that I did!
As a child and into my young adult years, I absolutely loved building and designing. I also had a strong entrepreneurial spirit. I tried several different business ventures in an attempt to break free from my 9-5 , which I loathed! I was thankful that I had a job that paid the bills, but I was not happy with my dead end career path to say the least.
Where Wood Tells a Story...
Though I personally didn’t think the pet gate I made for our home was the most aesthetically pleasing, my wife’s reaction to it sparked a bit of confidence, especially when she said I should try to sell them. I decided to take some amateur photos of our gate and post it for sale on Etsy. That’s when things went crazy! Orders and inquiries starting pouring in! I began practicing different techniques and trying out new designs that customers would pitch to me. All of a sudden I had a product line totally inspired by customer requests. I decided to take on a more aggressive order as I saw my skill set evolving. Barn doors! The review left by that specific customer was incredibly inspiring, so I began to offer sliding barn doors as well.
After 3 years of blood sweat and literal tears, I decided to quit my full time job and have since opened a retail storefront in Feasterville, Pa! My perpetually supportive and hard working wife now works with me part time (part time NICU nurse as well!) and I also brought my incredibly talented brother-in-law, Chris Smith, onboard as full time fabricator and designer. This is my American dream and I am humbled and blessed beyond measure to be living it with my family by my side.
